The Life of Jesus Pathway Project:

Today, more than 20 years following the dedication, we are in the midst of an ambitious campus expansion project. Phase 1 has recently been completed, with the first two (of ten) life-size statues of Jesus beautifully set on the west side of the campus. Additionally, 12K+ square feet of concrete walking paths were added along with bench seating path lighting, irrigation system, retention area, plush greenery, and grassy berms. Phase 2 is underway, with hopes to have two more statues installed in 2024.

In addition, the Cross grounds expansion project includes a band shell and outdoor restrooms along with walking paths and areas for prayer and reflection. Improvements to our parking area are also planned, with increased handicap accessibility and bus parking. Through the power of technology, we’re also working to provide the opportunity for a self-guided tour which includes the Ten Commandments.

The Life of Jesus Pathway includes 10 bronze life-size statues of Jesus at significant times in His short life on Earth.

Scene #1: The Nativity

Joseph and Mary are shown watching over their newborn Son, Jesus. The Nativity statue was donated by the COHIHO Foundation in memory of Joe & Suzette Brumleve.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Scene #2: Jesus with the Children

Jesus is seated with His arms wrapped around two young children. Jesus with the Children statue was donated by Verena Allen.

“But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” Matthew 19:14

Each scene is set in front of a large berm, and is surrounded by plush greenery. Bench seating is provided at each scene so that guests may sit, reflect, and pray.

Eight additional statues are planned, and donations are needed to ensure the project’s completion. For information regarding the Cross expansion project, or to donate in honor or memory of a loved one, please contact us at 217-342-4100 or donate online. Donations are tax deductible, and can be made via a one-time gift or over a three-year pledge period.
