Scene #4 – Jesus Feeds 5000+ with Loaves and Fish
“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied.”
Matthew 14:19–20
In this powerful Gospel account, Jesus responds with compassion to a large crowd that has followed Him. Though the disciples had only five loaves and two fish, Jesus gave thanks, broke the bread and miraculously fed more than five thousand people. This moment reminds us of God’s abundant provision and the miraculous power of faith, even when resources seem limited.
The feeding of the multitude is the only miracle of Jesus—apart from His resurrection—recorded in all four Gospels. After teaching and healing throughout the day, Jesus saw that the crowd was hungry and responded with compassion. He took the small offering of five loaves and two fish, gave thanks and multiplied it until everyone had eaten and was satisfied, with twelve baskets remaining. This miracle reveals that nothing offered to Christ in faith is too small for Him to use. It calls us to trust in God’s provision, share what we have and believe that Jesus can accomplish far more than we imagine.
